Recreation

Summer Activities
Lake Tahoe is truly a paradise for lovers of the outdoors. The exquisite warm weather provides unlimited possibilities for an abundance of recreational activities.
Secrets Inn is three blocks from a private lake beach (guests receive a pass), so it is not as crowded as the state park beaches. There is a marina that gives exclusive discounts on kayaks, wave runners, and powerboats. Parasailing is also available, and daily hot air balloon rides are less than a 5 minute drive from the Inn.
The choices for biking, whether for the mountain or just pleasure, are endless in Lake Tahoe. There is a mountain bike shop one block from the Inn where you can rent cruiser bikes or mountain bikes. The cruiser bike path starts a block uphill from the Inn. Mountain bike trails are 2 miles away, but can be reached through the cruiser bike trails.
For hiking, the Heavenly Gondola is something we recommend everyone does on their first day in town. The Gondola is 2 blocks away and takes you to the top of the ski resort. There is a viewing platform there with a 180 degree view - which orients you for the direction you wish to hike in. There are also several moderate to extreme paths that take you over 10,000 feet, ranger hikes, and interpretive trails.
There are three different waterfalls that are not well known, and not easy to find - but our Innkeepers are happy to point you in that direction!
If you're a climber, every variety is available from bouldering to extremely difficult climbs. There are two spots that have hooks in the wall - but you will need to bring your own ropes and carabiners. Equipment rental shops are available if needed.

Winter Activities
As soon as the snow hits the ground, Lake Tahoe transforms into a mecca of winter activities, and Secrets Inn puts you in a prime spot to enjoy the scenic area.
There are 5 ski resorts within an hours drive of the hotel with varying degrees of difficulty - most every ski resort has both children and adult programs. Several have snow tubing areas as well as skiing. You are only a quarter mile away from the ski lifts of Heavenly Mountain Resort, the largest resort in California and Nevada.
In addition to skiing, there are two lakefront resorts offering snow showing and cross country skiing - Zephyr Cove Resort and Camp Richardson Resort. These resorts also feature onsite dining and great events such as “Saturday Night Wine Nights” where guests snowshoe out to a bonfire and enjoy wine.
